How to train your dragon 3

What I liked: As with the other two installments, I loved the sheep. They have much less screen time than maybe they should but this time they have little dragon costumes so that they blend in on an island that is now completely overrun with dragons. I also liked that all of the too many dragons living on the island live in enormous colorful birdhouses. It gave the island a very Caribbean/Norse fusion feeling. I like the discussion of dreams. Mostly just the statement "This is your dream maybe. Mine is less crowded and more sanitary." I feel like that is a great dream for anyone and am especially impressed that it was the dream of a perhaps less than hygienic viking. I liked the hoards of purple toad dragons and the flock of tiny glowing dragons. Dragons under black lights look really cool which it think could spark two great spin off series. One with a dragon DJ working raves and one with a dragon dance troupe. I would absolutely go see a dragon dance group perform. I liked the base jumping vikings. I liked Toothless' courtship dance especially how he drew inspiration from real birds.

What I didn't: So as urban planning goes, I don't think that any island should be zoned for that number of dragons. I also think that for an engineer the main character really should have put more effort into the foundations for structures supporting multiple multi-ton dragons. Also, even in dragontopia these creatures are still very much carnivores, what exactly are they eating and how is there enough of it? Perhaps before you actually relocate your entire community, you should do things like pack, choose a destination, and see if that destination actually exists. Additionally, if you think that you are being pursued by an entire armada of bad guys it would be a good idea to set up scouts or something to see if they are getting close. I am duly impressed with the bad guy's resourcefulness and plotting but am still confused about how he managed to conjure an enormous stone evil lair in the middle of a naval campaign. And how, after the evil lair was toppled by flaming poison, he was able to maintain operations there. I'm not sure if I liked the scorpion dragons. They have the pluses of being unique and spitting flaming poison and having scorpion tails. On the downside, they are evil and ugly. Finally, I think that if you were uncertain of a giant dragon was going to be friendly, you should probably figure that out before introducing your children to it. I am curious about the tranquilizer darts. It seems like they can either knockout the target or put them under mind control. Are there actually different compounds in identical looking darts, or do you not know which it is going to be until you shoot something?

Who should watch this? People who liked the other two movies. People who haven't figured out google image search well enough to find pictures of the sheep dressed as dragons.

Would I watch it again? The first one is still the best, so I will probably just stick to that for rewatching.

The Titanic

What I liked: Liked is definitely the wrong word for it but the scenes of the sinking of the Titanic were masterful. They were technologically impressive, apparently remarkably accurate, and emotionally gripping. The variety of ways in which different people dealt with a completely hopeless situation was both touching and thought provoking. Especially beautiful was the string quartet. In isolation from the love story, the sinking of the Titanic is a tragic reminder of the cost of hubris and the necessity of regulating emergency procedures and capacities. It carries similar gravitas as a war film. At the 25th anniversary of the film, I can appreciate how Titanic has impacted movies made later.  What I didn't: So here's the thing. I feel very bad for you if you died in the sinking of the Titanic. I feel less bad for you if you managed to get on a lifeboat on the Titanic and then decided to get off. I question all of your decision making and priorities if you decide to get off a...

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Reveiw

What I liked: For a movie based on what is in essence a fictional encyclopedia, this movie has a surprising amount of plot. Not great plot, but more than I usually get from reading an alphabetical reference book. I liked the dopey sidekick, his facial expressions were great and he was the only one who acknowledged that what happening on screen was not actually normal. I liked that the president led the tiny army of US wizards to their tiny battle in a subway. So as military victories go, this was not one for the history books, for many reasons. But it did lend more meaning to the phrase Commander in Chief. I felt like Dr Who was once again a bow tie wearing socially awkward guy who lives in a box that is bigger on the inside. Some of the creatures were cool but the CGI didn't quite make them alive. I liked the sloth monkey, I don't really know who it was or what it was doing but I would support a slothmonkey planet of the apes crossover. I like that the guy from SWAT has fina...

Free Guy

What I liked: I liked Guy. That is in fact the point but I like how happy, carefree, and wholesome he is in what is essentially Grand Theft Auto. I like what the NPCs decide to focus on as they achieve consciousness. I liked the ridiculous YouTubers getting all philosophical about Guy and how he radically changed game play. I liked that so much of the game economy was about silly skins, just like a real game, and how that completely confused the NPCs. I liked the fight between Dude and Guy and its resolution, it managed to stay very on theme. The item cameos were fun, like seeing the Portal gun, or the Fortnite piƱata. I liked guy finding the med kit and building up an inventory.  What I didn't: I am not be a lawyer but I am suspicious that there maybe more efficient ways of obtaining evidence of copyright violation than playing 12 hours of a computer game every day. With that in mind I think the evidence points to the heroine enjoying the game far more than she lets on. On the top...
