Batman 1989 Review

What I liked: Not sure. This was a very not great movie. I guess I could say the Joker was more comical than creepy so it’s easier to watch than the new Batman one with the Joker. What I didn’t: Batman was a jerk and he had a terrible suit. The batmobile was not a tank. Alfred was not funny. Whoever the girlfriend was was annoying. The plot was comical. The whole thing was made in the 80s, the hair, the boomboxes, the denim. All of this was associated with batman, such a tragedy. Who should watch this: no one. Would I watch it again? nope.

Rogue One Review

What I liked: Rogue one was good. Like Episode VII it fit right in with the world of the original series. The effects were great and the aliens creative. I was very impressed with all the alien landscapes. They were beautiful and detailed and much more interesting than the obligatory sandy planets we see every time. But mostly I liked realizing that we have landscapes that otherworldly here that we could go find. I also loved seeing planets with rings. Because this movie is outside the trilogy of trilogies, it doesn't feature Skywalker relatives, which is really quite refreshing. I always thought that there might be other people in the galaxy. Despite, or really in my opinion because of, being disconnected from central arc Rogue One connected to the other movies with more grace than any of the other films. Our favorite minor characters were back in ways that made sense: Ackbar, bejeweled MuMu woman, bearded rebel guy. Other random cameos were not included. The portions of the plot

Florence Foster Jenkins Review

What I liked: I thought the film did a good job of capturing the feeling of the 1940s. The actors gave great performances as very colorful characters. The core cast really did a fantastic job. I also liked the side characters particularly the annoying blonde. I liked the ambiguous compliments the music teacher delivered and the ridiculous antics that were carried out to prevent Florence from seeing the reviews of her concert.  What I didn't: The previews showed a movie about an eccentric woman who loved music enough to perform even though she was not very good and that this enthusiasm inspired those around her to also be brave in their own spheres. I thought eccentricity, love of music, lack of regard for condescending critics, sounds like my kind of thing? It turns out that her willingness to perform stems more from being completely out of touch with reality rather than being unconcerned with how she is perceived. This small difference skewed the movie from a celebration of quirky
